Les Savy Fav @ CitySol - July 14, 2007 - Pics and Videos

Is that a baby on your chest or are you just happy to see me?

I made the trip into the city on Saturday for the CitySol festival. The only band worth mentioning for more than a few words was headliner and possibly one of the best live acts around, Les Savy Fav. Their approximately 50 minute set fed off the energy, girth, and willingness to disrobe of lead singer Tim Harrington while the rest of the band does their best to interject some comments and keeps the music pumping. And boy did it pump.

While Tim blabbed humorously about us eventually utilizing moon power when the sun ran out, this was a festival to promote the use of alternative energy and solar power the band made sure that they were tight and on point to not detract from Tim's outrageous antics.

These antics were not limited to but included running in and out of the crowd like it was his job, sipping bubble soap from a crowd member's bottling and blowing those bubbles out, taking off his shirt frequently, making sexually overtoned hand motions/ licking his finger and slithering it around his belly button, taking a large blue water cooler and giving a crowd member a "Super Bowl Shower," and singing most of a song from top of a van in the middle of the street, which is the dark and grainy photo above. Better pics available over at Brooklyn Vegan, who helped put on the show.

Les Savy Fav isn't scheduled to perform till September but I plan on attending and I recommend anyone who enjoys their kick ass music, with a large heaping front man entertainment should attend. They have a new album coming out in the fall as well. And for the uninitiated, you might want to pick up The Cat and The Cobra & Rome (Written Upside Down).

Here's some videos I shot from my digital mess of a camera.
