Free Flaming Lips Show Pics - Festival Pier in Philadelphia July 16, 2006

The Flaming Lips don't cheat an audience. They go all out to entertain. I was so entertained that I couldn't even remember to take pictures for the second half of the concert. All this for free. And the Bob Mould Band. Not a raw deal. And since it was a Philly, it wasn't even hard to get into.

First time I saw the Lips on the tour for their latest album. the album is alright but their songs are remarkably better live, especially the all out intensity and engrossing nature of "The W.A.N.D." and The Soft Bulletin's / set opener "Race For The Prize." Of course, there was the obligatory awesomeness of " Do You Realize?" and "She Don't Use Jelly."

Tickets for Flaming Lips at Hammerstein in September go on sale on Friday July 21. I'd reccommend going if I was you and you like being blown away and walking away form a show feeling that you might not have even paid enough to see what you just saw.
